Introduction

This website is intended to answer questions you may have concerning courses offered by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. The information here includes and extends that in the College Calendar. The Department is constantly making changes in its offerings and policies, but the information here is regularly updated. If you have further questions or need clarification, please feel free to come and talk with the Chair of the Department, or with our Student Advisement Coordinator, or one of our two subject area Coordinators for Business Math or Statistics , or any of the other instructors in the Department, or to see one of Langara's counsellors in the Student Services Centre. We have included information on all the courses offered, transfer credit to other institutions, departmental philosophy, instructional support ... and lots of advice as well. The advice section on choosing a course should be especially useful to many prospective students, and we also have links to a growing body of web-based learning aids which we hope will help students to better understand mathematical and statistical concepts.
