Mathematics and Statistics

Registration is now closed for all Math and Stats courses this term.

Most of our courses are now full, but if space does become available, then last minute course additions will be possible up to the end of the first week of classes.

As usual, registration enquiries can be directed to our information line at 604-323-5583 or by email to math.stat.info@langara.bc.ca, and as of Jan 4, in-person registration advising will be available from Ms McKeeman in B154f (see schedule on door for available times), or at the MDT session on Jan 5 (from 9am to noon in room A218).

Registration for the Spring term began on Monday Nov 23.

If you lack the formal prerequisites for a course, or if they are more than three years old, then you will need to take the Math Diagnostic Test, and if you have not already done that at the November 13 session, then you may have to wait to register in your math course until after the next MDT session on Dec 4.

For those wanting to try a course for the third time, except in cases with a medical explanation approved by the Registrar’s Office, we will not be considering requests to override the repeat limit before December 7 so that in the meantime available seats can be reserved for those who have not already had two tries.

Friday Dec 4 from 9am to noon (may be redirected to room A130)
Mon Dec 7 from 10am to noon
Wed Dec 9 from 4:30-5:30pm
Mon Dec 14 from 1-3pm
Thurs Dec 17 from 3-5pm
Fri Dec 18 from 1-2pm

The registrar has asked us to remind all students that the last day to withdraw from a regular semester (September to December) course is this Friday, October 30.

As of Oct 15, while Ms McKeeman is on vacation, all registration enquiries will be handled by the department chair, Alan Cooper.

For in-person advising (if email to math.stat.info@langara.bc.ca or telephone to 604-323-5583 do not suffice) up to Nov 30 he will be in office B154e (next door to Cheryl) from 11am to noon on Mondays and 4:30-5:30pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

The last possible day to register in a Math or Stat course this term was Sept 14.  If you didn’t manage to get into a course this term we hope you have better luck in January, and in preparation for that it may be worth noting that the next sittings of the Math Diagnostic Test are scheduled for Friday Nov 13 and Friday Dec 4 (both at 9am)

Classes started on Tuesday, so by now all should have met at least once.

Since registration into Mathematics and Statistics courses is normally not allowed after four hours of classes, Monday Sept 14 will be the last possible time to register in a Math or Stats course this term.

If you are still waiting for a course please be sure to respond promptly to any offer you receive as otherwise you may end up back at the bottom of the list. In case you don’t get an offer in time to register, it might be a good idea to consult about other options with our student advisor by phone at 604-323-5583 or by email at math.stat.info@langara.bc.ca
