Bike Repair Station

Langara College has installed a bike repair station in front of the bicycle parking cage on P1 of the underground parkade. The station allows for basic bicycle repairs such as replacing a flat tire. The station consists of bike tools (Allen keys, wrenches, screwdrivers and tire levers) and a stand that holds a bicycle off the ground to allow the wheels and pedals to spin freely.

To use the repair station, lift the bicycle so that the bicycle seat post lies between the two hanger arms.

A QR code is located on the stand. Use your smart phone with the code to access a bike repair website.

Develop your bike repair skills

Langara College sponsors HUB courses for all employees that qualify for benefits. For more information about this program, contact Raymond Yeung.

HUB’s bike maintenance courses are expected to resume in Spring 2016. If you cannot wait until Spring 2016, the following organizations teach bike repair skills:

  • The Bike Kitchen, a community bike shop at UBC
  • Our Community Bikes, a community bike shop located at 2429 Main Street
  • Kickstand, a community bike shop located at 1739 Venables Street.
  • MEC, a non-profit retail cooperative with stores at 130 West Broadway and 212 Brooksbank Avenue

Bicycle Supplies Boxes

Plastic containers with inner tubes for road bikes and mountain bikes, Presta valve adapters and tire levers have been placed inside the bicycle parking cage and the mailroom (on the shelf to the left of the photocopiers). The supplies are for Langara College employees to fix flat bicycle tires. If you take an inner tube, please replace it in the box as soon as possible for others to use.

There is also a spare bicycle lock for one-day loans in the bicycle parking cage. An access card available from Raymond Yeung is required to enter the bicycle parking cage.
