Langara’s Biology department is made up of twenty-nine instructors and thirteen laboratory staff with a broad range of biological expertise and experience. Our interests and backgrounds range from DNA to ecosystems, from bacteria to mammals.

We offer a full complement of first and second year Biology courses that transfer directly to universities and university colleges in British Columbia. At Langara, instructors and laboratory demonstrators are focused on teaching and class sizes are small. This allows you more one-on-one contact with your teachers. It also gives you opportunities to interact with other students and to participate more actively in your own learning, an important key to academic success.

We believe biology is more than book learning. It is an apprenticeship to the scientific method and to the study of the millions of species that inhabit the planet. We invite you to explore the variety and richness of life.

The Langara Biology department endorses the National Association of Biology Teachers position statement on teaching evolution.
