Library & Learning Commons 2014/15 Annual Report

The Library’s 2014/15 Annual Report is now available online.

Highlights from the year include:

  • Significant organizational changes took effect: the Learning Commons was officially recognized as part of the Library; the Library & Learning Commons now reports to directly to the VP Academic & Students; and the Library’s collaboration with EdTech and TCDC has become more formalized.
  • Librarians have taken an active role in the program review process, liaising with departments to provide community need reports and reporting how the Library & Learning Commons supports the program under review.
  • The Library aligned its strategic priorities with the College’s Academic Plan. Library representatives currently sit on three of the Academic Plan Action Groups: Learning & Teaching; Student Support; and Environmental, Financial, and Social Sustainability.
  • Our instructional program continues to soar to new heights, reaching 42% more students than in 2013/14.
  • The Library enhanced its online holdings through subscriptions to Wiley Online Library, the Taylor and Francis Social Sciences and Humanities Collection, and Criterion on Demand.
  • A new Silent Study Room was unveiled on the 2nd Floor of the Library, to great acclaim.
  • Several surveys conducted by the Learning Commons revealed that students are overwhelmingly satisfied with the services provided by the Writing and Tutoring Centre.

We hope you will take the time to read the full report. We look forward to building upon our successes in the months ahead!
