Learning Commons Spring Term Report

The Spring term was a busy one for the Learning Commons with a wide range of outside the classroom support.  This includes research help, subject and writing tutoring, the launch of an online writing help service and student success workshops.  Some highlights:

  • Subject tutoring received 580 student visits, up 4% from 2015
  • Student Visits to Writing Centre increased by 18% from Spring 2015
  • Writeaway, the online writing help service, has proven to be very popular with students.  During the Spring of 2016, Langara received 215 submissions, the second highest number among participating institutions that include SFU, UBC and Douglas College
  • Borrower and Reference Services in the Library answered over 4500 questions ranging from known title searches to advanced research help
