Anyone can get a CourseWeb account. Sign up for a CourseWeb account here. You will then create your blog (or blogs) on that account.

Characteristics of CourseWeb

Generally speaking, CourseWeb is for student projects and because CourseWeb is available to anyone to create a blog, some of the functionality has been limited.

Characteristic CourseWeb
Who can request a blog Anyone with a Langara email address, and the blog is automatically generated. Students can therefore request their own blog site.
Who can be added to blog user list Anyone with a valid email address can be added to users list by blog owner.
Who can create Content Only members of a blog’s User List may contribute content (see above for who can be added to the User List).
Who can view blog, Pages, or Posts Some privacy options are available.
Who can Comment on Pages or Posts Anyone, as allowed by owner.
Adding Media to Pages or Posts Media can be linked to or embedded. To embed media:

  1. Under Plugins, activate the Extend KSES plugin.
  2. Under Settings, click on Extend KSES. Check all the checkboxes and save.
  3. To embed media in a page or post: paste its URL (e.g. YouTube video or Flickr photo) between these tags:

    [embed]URL goes here[/embed].

Adding specialized Code to pages Not allowed, except code listed as “protected” by Extend KSES.
Customizing Templates Not allowed. Must select from list of available templates and use as “off the shelf”.
