Makerspace Online Workshops
We are now featuring some online workshops you can take from your home. 

Makerspace Workshops

Makerspace workshops are open to everyone that goes to Langara college, including students, staff and faculty. No previous experience is necessary to attend most workshops. The workshops are mostly demonstration only.
 Here is a list of our current workshops….

3D Printing

We start with a very basic intro into a 3D program. Then we show you how to process the file for the printers. We then show you how to operate the 3D printers.

Laser Cutter

We start with how to create a file in Adobe Illustrator. We then go to the laser and show you how to operate it.

Vinyl Cutter

We start with how to create a file in Adobe Illustrator. We then go to the vinyl cutter and show you how to cut out your vinyl. We then show you how to weed, and transfer the vinyl to a surface. We also show you how to make a t-shirt.

CNC Router

We start with importing a file into Vcarve software and creating the tool paths. We then take the G-code file to the CNC and load it into the Mach3 router software. We then run the file on a piece of MDF wood.

Box Making

We start with how to create a file with a box making software. Then in Adobe Illustrator we load the file and prep it for the laser. We then go to the laser and show you how to cut the file. We then glue the parts together to create a finger joint box.

Techsew

We show you how to operate the Techsew Industrial sewing machines including: bobbin winding, replacing the bobbin and how to adjust the stitch. We also show you a number of stitch types for you to use.

Rhino 3D

This is an intro to the Rhino 3D creation program. You will have a good understandings of the basics at the end of the workshop.

Fusion 360

This is an intro to the Fusion360 3D creation program. You will have a good understandings of the basics at the end of the workshops.

Make A Tote Bag

We will go through the steps of making a tote bag from the patterns available at the Makerpsace. We will demo using our up-cycled billboard vinyl.

Preform/ Form2

How to format your file for the Form2 resin 3D printers using the Preform software.

Cura for the S5

How to process your 3D file to use with the Ultimaker S5 using the Cura software.
