Copyright Workshops

The library will be offering two great copyright workshops this Fall semester.

COPYRIGHT FOR EDUCATORS

Wednesday September 27, 12:30-1:20, T226

Have you ever copied an article for your students? Posted a YouTube video to D2L? Added an image from Google to your lecture slides? If so, you’ve shared copyright-protected content. Fortunately for us at Langara, the Canadian Copyright Act outlines special allowances for education. This interactive session provides a plain-language overview of how copyright law applies to activities in the physical and online classroom.  Participants will leave with improved understanding of how to balance their rights as educators with those of content creators. Please feel free to bring your lunch to this session.

Presenter: Lindsay Tripp, Copyright Librarian

COPYRIGHT FOR CREATORS

Tuesday October 3, 12:30-1:20, T224

Whether you’re an artist, musician, author, or applied researcher, your works are protected by copyright. This interactive workshop, presented by Langara’s Copyright Librarian, will provide creators with an overview of their rights under Canadian copyright law, as well as practical techniques for protecting their works in the physical and digital marketplace. Please feel free to bring your lunch to this session.
