TCDC & EdTech Open House

The staff and faculty from Educational Technology (EdTech) and the Teaching and Curriculum Development Centre (TCDC) are excited to unveil our new home on the 2nd floor of the C-building at our Open House event on Wednesday, January 29th from 1:00pm to 3:30pm.

Please drop by to check out TCDC and EdTech’s newly combined space and sample some of the day’s offerings, including actual refreshments in our kitchen area!

Mary Jane Joe, Langara’s Elder in Residence, will open the new space at 1:00pm in the reception area.

Ed Tech advisors will be on hand in the Innovation Space (C202) and the Studio (C214) showcasing Tech Snacks:

  • Using a Lightboard (Studio, 1:00-1:30)
  • Polling your students with Microsoft Forms in Brightspace (Innovation Space, C202, 1:30-1:50)
  • Teaching with Zoom (Innovation Space, C202, 2:00-2:20)
  • Publishing OER (Open Educational Resources) with Jekyll, Reveal.JS, and GitLab (Innovation Space, C202, 2:30-2:50)
  • Podcasting (Studio, 3:00-3:20)

Ed Tech’s Instructional Assistants will be ready to help you with questions you have any questions you have about teaching tools including Brightspace, Zoom, Kaltura Mediaspace, and more. Visit them in their new digs in C204.

Come meet the TCDC team in the Collaboration Space (C203) and peruse our Spring 2020 Workshop Menu—featuring both à la carte and full course options for professional development. We can also discuss course planning and tell you about TCDC’s drop-in sessions and other supports for you and your departments.

The Langara Student Success Course (LSSC) instructor, Frances Clarke, will also be in the Collaboration Room, ready to share some new initiatives and answer your questions about the course.

Our new department assistant, Clover Duong, is leading book binding in the Book Kitchen (C201c).

From 2:30-3:30, join Mirabelle Tinio, Curriculum Consultant, for our first “book tasting” event in the Resource Area. Taste test the menu of titles in the TCDC library; you might even end up borrowing one on the spot!
